Basically are many ways to Block and unblock the Websites in Macintosh Computer one is using hosts file second is using 3rd party application like Browser Extensions but best method is using hosts files because using Browser extension only particular browser can block the access of website wheres the host file will totally block the access of site.This tutorial show How To Block Particular Site on Macintosh in very easy way.

How To Block Particular Site on Macintosh Using Hosts file

The best way to work with the Hosts file is using the Terminal application found in your Mac’s Utilities folder. You’ll need to know the IP address of the device you’d like to send your Mac to, or the domain names you’re trying to keep your Mac away from.

  1. Double-click Terminal.
  2. type sudo nano /etc/hosts then hit return.
  3. You’ll be asked for your password. Enter your admin password.

You’re now in the Nano text editor. You should see i have added two websites yahoo and Facebook:

Once you added the website like i did then Exit it,It will ask you to save the file just save it and see the difference,But If you wanna unblock the site again then simply open hosts file and remove the site from hosts file which you wanna unblock.

Another way is To Block Particular Site on Macintosh is using 3rd party Application ,If you familiar with Browser Extensions then it is quite easy to know how to use the particular extension

If you are a Google chrome user like me then simple search “Block Site” on Chrome Web Store it will give you bunch of Similar plugin but for me i like this one

Add that Extension on Google chrome and Install it once you install the Extension you can add any website to block

Note:-If you are newbie then go for Browser Extension method because any wrong setting of host file will block your internet access so for less trouble go for Browser method
